The concept of the Tree of Life can be found in science, religion, philosophy, and mythology. It alludes to the interconnection of life on our planet. For thousands of years and in many cultures the Tree of Life has been a symbol of life and a map of kinship. A popular theme, it can be found with the Native Americans of the Great Plains and those in the Amazon jungle as well as the Mbuti Pygmy of the Congo rainforest - to name a few. It has been used in a popular attraction by Walt Disney World and was the central theme in the movie Avatar. I drew this, my version of the Tree of Life, for my daughter who is attached to the Bowling Green Cancer Foundation, when she ask me if I had a drawing that she could auction off to raise money for the Walk of Life - the fund raiser for Breast Cancer. I did not have a drawing that I felt was appropriate for the event so I set to work and produced this drawing, which explains why it contains so many cute and fuzzy animals, animals not typically found in my drawings. However, since drawing it, it has become one of my most popular drawings and I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed drawing the Tree of Life.
